stay tuned..
I've been working on a few things in the background here at spilling the beans. As I'm want to do! I have a couple things I'm looking into, trying out etc etc which I'll let you all know about before long...
In the meantime why not check out some of the archives, or go take a geezer at those who are on my blogroll! Tell em I said hi, I've been a little slack, I've been reading, but not commenting much. Doesn't mean don't love em anymore though! Anyway, have fun and wish me luck in my ventures into the unknown........

You are invited to dinner...
What do you think of the main course on offer??!!
We spent yesterday afternoon at the Museum, and this was one of the illusions they had....isn't it cool! We had a ball. Lots of interactive things to do, and of course with the kids having the attention spans of dead gnats they just ran round to all of them before really taking much notice of what it was trying to teach them! My sister's boyfriend and his 6 year old daughter (of whom I will post a similar pic to the one above as soon as I ask him if it's ok!) took us along as my sister was outta town for a wedding. It was good to see the girls have some fun.
In totally unrelated news, Zoe has her first birthday party invitation since being here! Yay! I'm excited for her.
Again on a completely different note, I went to the library today and borrowed a book which I feel will contain some blog fodder....see later in the week. I need to have a good look through it and pick what I'm going to write about....stay tuned.
And just to top of the sporadic thoughts, I'm off to enroll in my first subject at TAFE tomorrow...WOOHOO!!!
I think that'll do. I'm having an early night tonight..need to prepare body and mind in readiness for tomorrow's activities. I also have personal trainer session so need to coax muscles out of hiding!

men are sooks!
According to this report, men mistake the common cold for the flu and take more time to 'recover' than women. But then us ladies have known that for eons haven't we, and now we have some statistical backup. Who needs stats and online surveys to tell us that men are just big sooky lala babies when it comes to being sick.
First there is 'having a man's look' - when you can't see something right in front of you, or take a casual glance into a room and claim to have searched high and low for it, now there is 'man flu' where you get to take twice as much time off work, feel sorry for yourself and claim to be the sickest person there ever was, has been, or will be all because their nose is a little runny and they occasionally cough!
That right there is why men don't give birth ladies and gentlemen. They'd have one stab at it, never go back or tell their mates how bloody terrible pregnancy and childbirth is, and this race would die out due to lack of reproduction :)
I'm updating this post to add a very appropriate line from an email sent to me today -by anonoypop- entitled "Rules of Man"
Because I'm a man, when I catch a cold, I need someone to bring me soup and take care of me while I lie in bed and moan. You're a woman. You never get as sick as I do, so for you, this is no problem.

chocolate fudge
Can't post, too busy searching for easy choc fudge recipe with ingredients I can actually buy in this country. It's all the libraries fault. In one of the books Zoe got is a basic recipe for choc fudge, but it totally sucked, and I promised her I would make some so now I have to decide which ones are worth making, and which ones won't go all crystallised and bloody hell there are just so many to choose from...for the love of god can someone help me out here!

shopping centers
Went shopping this afternoon. Whilst I love the variety that big
shopping centers offer with their multitudes of shops, there are a
couple of things that really bug me about them.
Firstly, when you aren't looking for something in particular, you see hundreds of them. Then when you go looking, you think there is one to be found? Not bloody likely. Today, I went looking for some nail polish. Being the cheapskate that I am when it comes to purchasing items that I may use for a total of 5 minutes once every 3 months, I went looking in those shops that have such an abundance that you'd swear they procreate in the middle of the night. Discount cosmetic stores. However being a fussy turd when it comes to my nails, I went looking for the ones that have the ball bearings in them. Easier to keep them from going all gloopy. Yes thats a real word. Anyone who has left the lid of their nail polish slightly ajar will understand what gloopy is and agree that it should be included in the next version of Webster's Dictionary. But, as per shopping center rules, I couldn't find one to save my life. Bloody typical really.
Secondly, the phenomenon known as the school-girl-chain. You know the ones I mean. Those teenage girls in school uniform who SHOULD be at school linking arms and extend from one shop to the other not allowing anyone else to pass. The only thing that can save you is a guy whom one has a crush on being sited which sends them into fits of giggles as they retract into each other to instantly become a ball of flesh and hormones. Kind of like one of those little furry caterpillars that curl up into a ball when you touch it. Scary creatures really, and I don't mean the caterpillars.
Lastly, it should be against the law to NOT have the center music being piped into the toilets. There are some sounds that just shouldn't be heard by the general public. I think I'm going to write a letter to my local council tomorrow imploring them to write a bylaw to introduce this measure in the name of common decency and humanity. Care to sign a petition if I start one should they not see reason?
Enjoy your weekend peoples, I intend on doing just that....I'm not going anywhere near a major shopping center :)

thoughts...
Usually when I'm writing a post, I have most of written in my head before I even start. This time I'm going to try something different, just for the heck of it! I'm going to sit here and just write what I'm thinking. About anything, and everything, or maybe nothing at all! We'll see how, and where, it goes shall we?

Zoe has been a little, shall we say, testy lately. And it's getting to ridiculous stage. I guess I've been letting her get away with a few things and making excuses because of all the changes. She has slowly been getting worse for awhile now and it's time to put an end to it. Unfortunately the only thing that works at times like this is to totally come down really hard until she's sorted herself out. Shouldn't be more than a day or two from the reaction I got when letting her know what was happening last night. Time will tell on how effective my method is. It's worked in the past so I see no reason why it shouldn't now. But something definitely has to give. She's back chatting, second guessing and questioning EVERYTHING that comes out of my mouth, arguing, asking for the same thing over and over and bloody over again hoping that my answer will change and all the while the sooky la la factor increases 10 fold! I'm over it. Big time. I'm sick and tired of being cranky and arguing back and justifying myself to a five year old. Sometimes she needs to just remember that I'm the grown up and she's the child. Come to think of it, so do I :)

Did I tell you we went and signed up to the city library the other day? They let us borrow 12 items each, thats TWELVE items each! How cool is that. And we can have them for 4 weeks. Zoe got 10, and we found another one for her in the nonfiction section that went onto my card. Oh yeah, she even has her own card, she's ever so chuffed! She got a nice mix of fun and fact, easy and challenging so I was pleased. I got 5 books. One on digital photography, 2 on yoga and 2 on natural magic and the philosophies behind it. The photography and yoga most of you won't be surprised at, but I can see some of you sitting there thinking "natural magic?? WTF??" I love it. I love the spells. I love the idea that different scents, colors and substances represent different things. Now I'm not claiming to do MAGIC or anything, but I love the idea of spells or talismans, homemade scented candles etc etc. I think that in the preparation of these things, you allow your state of mind and your life to be open for whatever it is you are wishing to change. So that's what it's about. I'm not a witch, not about to become wiccan or even chuck off all my clothes and run naked through the forest recreating pagan rituals in the moonlight..although that last bit does sound like fun don't it?!! I'm just reading about things I find interesting and that help me to get my head where I would like it to be.

Stu is up here now. It's been hard in some aspects, and cool in others. He understands now why I had to leave and why we can't just go back to the where we were. I need to live my life, and he needs to live his and if we end up finding later down the track that the spark is still there, then so be it, but we can't and I won't, live my life with that being the end goal. So I'm available, and should someone come along, then great. Whilst I wouldn't say I'm actively seeking, I'm looking. I need to find new friends. Not because I don't love the old ones, but because they are too far away to just go hang out with, or go grab a coffee and talk shit. I need the company. Talking with you guys on here is great, but there is something to be said for just chillin with people. Know what I mean? I think that's why I'm so gungho on the activities at the moment. Do things you enjoy and your automatically going to come into contact with people who share at least one interest with you aren't you? Especially if you do it at the same time each week....oh well. I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, just rambling as my mind wanders I think.

I've added a new category to Spilling the Beans. I've called it "Did I ever tell you about..." There is nothing on there yet, but will do one shortly. Tossing up between the story of how I found out I was pregnant or the blue tack/waxing incidents with anonypop. Both stories will be told in time I'm sure, so you'll just have to wait and see which one is first. Will be interesting to see which memories I'll care to share too. Am I going to only share the good and funny? Or some of the painful ones aswell. This will be an interesting exercise for both of us I think. I once said that it's an interesting experience looking through someone's blogroll, it gives you a little more insight into who they are to a certain extent. The same can be said for the choice of what they write. Or, sometimes the more telling one, what they don't write about.

Heres a pic of the flower box we put to use. It looked so lonely and lost! It's on the outside of a shed/extra room downstairs that is going to be turned into a cubby hut for the kids. Did I mention that we are living in a Queenslander?? (House on stilts for those who don't know!) I love Queenslanders, the house type and the people type. Anyway onto the photo...here it is:
Here's a close up of our choice of plants. I can't be bothered going downstairs to see exactly what they are.
I think I'm going to shut up now, this is turning into a novel......till next time, I'll try and keep the dribble to a minimum!

new poll
Ok, I'm going to post this here instead of in the sidebar, cos at least then you can see it! With the whole new makeover of my life and myself I figured this should get one too. Not too drastic, just going to add a new theme and leave only 3 of the old ones on there, which is where this poll comes in! Let me know which ones you like and WHY....give me some direction here ok? Of course like most things I will still do it MY way, but some pointers from those that view it would be good and MAYBE even included:)
Have a few posts running round my head right now, but may take a few
days to get them out. I figure it's nearly time for a rant..
Not sure
whether this poll will work as i've copied/pasted the html in...we'll
see in a minute when I post it won't we?? ***It works fine, I just
tested it :)

stonehenge
According to this news article, Stonehenge may just be considered a wonder of the world before long.
Stonehenge has always fascinated me, and I love reading about the many different theories regarding just what it is.
Personally I like to think it was erected by a bunch of drunk and/or stoned people who sat around a bonfire at a dull party one Saturday evening, and thought - "wouldn't it be funny to put something totally useless up here and then in thousands of years they'll wonder what the fuck it is!"
p.s. Hey thanks to speedy for pointing out that I didn't have my brain plugged in when I read this article.....I must have left it under my pillow or something :)
